About Busy Mama
I suppose it goes without saying that I’m a mom who has struggled (and still struggles) with weight loss and therefore decided to start this blog. But maybe it would help you determine if what I have to say is of any relevance to you if I tell you a bit about me…hopefully without boring you.
Let me start by saying that weight has always been an issue for me since I started puberty. I couldn’t wear the in-style jeans without hemming about six inches of the leg during jr high and high school. Although I’m athletic and did well in PE, I wasn’t very active during that time. At least not enough to work off the “baby pudge”.
In college I took up running and aerobics. I got down to a lean 16.9% body fat. But exercising in college is pretty easy. Because of my living situation, eating well wasn’t that hard either.
I married staying active and only gaining a couple of pounds. I really thought the weight issue was behind me. And then two things happened! One, I had children gaining 10 extra pounds with each of them (that’s 20 pounds if you’re counting). This isn’t weight during pregnancy. Its the weight that’s still there 15 and 12 years later! And two, I’m over 40 (there’s been a noticeable difference in my ability to lose weight since I passed 35).
I should probably mention that I am an AFAA certified fitness instructor which only means that I know a lot of about health and fitness, not that I’m tiny and tight. I’m not your typical instructor. I’m not a fitness enthusiast. I exercise because its important to good health, like brushing my teeth. Plus I get paid to exercise which is likely the only way I’ll stick to it. I’m not perky, which I think used to be a requirement to be an aerobics instructor. And I carry about 15 -20 pounds extra than I should.
This blog is about the realities of being a mom… a busy, tired, pulled-in-every direction mom and trying to get and stay healthy and trim. Its a battle I go through daily and I know I’m not alone. The goal is to provide healthy, proven tips and strategies that can fit into a busy mom lifestyle and that don’t require a complete overhaul of everything. Easy, step-by-step and can be fit into and incorporated into a mom’s life.
I’d love to hear your comments or ideas and tips! -
